Endurance Added to 2011 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North

11-5 NAJYRCLexington, KY - For more than 30 years, the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North traditionally hosts championships for teams and individuals in the three Olympic Equestrian disciplines of dressage, eventing and jumping. In 2008 reining was included, and in 2011 the sport of endurance will be introduced for the first time.

Lexington, KY - The Executive Committee of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will meet to consider Extraordinary Rule Changes to clearly define the implementation of the Federation's new helmet rule to breed competitions that offer dressage classes. The committee will meet later this month to discuss the changes, which will clarify the rule in the Andalusian, Arabian, Friesian and Morgan divisions of USEF Licensed Competitions.

Lexington, KY - Each year at the United States Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year awards dinner, two Connemara Ponies are honored with special awards from the American Connemara Pony Society for excellence in USEF eventing and hunter competitions.

 

The McKenna Trophy is awarded in memory of Joan McKenna, and is presented to the high scoring purebred or halfbred Connemara competing in USEF eventing competitions at the Preliminary level or above.

This Week in International Disciplines 
Endurance

Indiantown, FL - The first American CEI of 2011 took place at the Dupuis Equestrian Center near Indiantown, FL, January 28-29.  The event featured two days of Endurance competition. In the CEIJY 1* (80km), Forest Green and PL Nino took top honors in a time of 3:55:30 beating Kelsey Russell and Tryssta by 30 seconds to the wire.  In the CEI 1* (80km) Amy Atkins crossed the finish line in 5:03:40 on SA Zacks Comet, one second ahead of Daryl Downs and Blaze Star. In another desperately close race, Kathy Brunjes won the CEI 2* (120 km) on Theatric in a time of 7:19:58, one second clear of Melody Blittersdorf on Tektonic.

AMHA Convention Features Nationally Known Presenters

Boston, MA - Several nationally accomplished presenters will be leading clinics and seminars at the 2011 AMHA Convention, which will take place February 23-26 in Boston, MA. Among the speakers are:

May 2 Deadline to Submit Grant Proposal to USA Equestrian Trust

USA Eq Trust WIR 2-4-11Lexington, KY - The USA Equestrian Trust is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for financial grants to non-profit equine organizations to be funded in 2011. Despite the continued economic struggles, the Trust's board was pleased to grant nearly $135,000 to seven applicants in 2010. Past recipients of grants include those doing equine health research, equestrian land conservation and educational programs. The Trust welcomes applications for need-based and means-tested worthy equestrian projects and encourages applicants to detail those in their applications.
