Can you verify receipt of my image?
A. We cannot verify receipt of packages due to the high volume of packages we receive
(600+). If you would like verification that it was received, please send by certified mail, FedEx,
UPS, etc. Pelase keep your tracking number.
Photo Guidelines
equestrian magazine will publish its annual photo gallery and roster of all Farnam®/Platform™
USEF Horse of the Year (HOTY) champions in the March 2009 issue, in addition to the National Silver
Stirrup award winners. Owners of CHAMPIONS ONLY are invited to submit photos for publication in the
photo gallery. Notification letters will be sent and final standings will be available on the website
on December 18, 2008.
To ensure that your photo is published, please follow the checklists below. If you wish to submit your

My Submission

I am sending a photo print that is 3”x5” or larger.

The photo is not a photocopy, a home-scanned photo, or a photographer's proof. Note: It is illegal
to scan or otherwise duplicate a professional photo. Any such photos that we receive will not be published.

I have included the following information on the form that accompanies my official letter
(if there is missing information, the photo may not run):

Horse’s name as it is recorded with USEF

Exact name of the award(s) won, which includes Grand National, National, Region or Zone
and the division

Recorded owner’s name, city and state (the rider information is not be published due to
space limitations)

Return address and phone number

If this is a photo for a Silver Stirrup National Champion, I have also included the horse’s
sire and dam information.

Photographer’s name and contact information

We highly recommend sending your materials via a trackable shipping system.

If I wish to know that my photo has arrived, I have sent by certified mail, FedEx, UPS, etc.
Note: Due to the high volume of packages received, USEF cannot confirm receipt of a package or upload.
Note: Please do not send the only copy of the photograph. USEF is not responsible for lost or misdirected mail.
Multiple Awards

If my horse has won more than one award, I can submit more than one photo if it is across disciplines
(for example, a jumper award and a Western award; a hunter award and a driving award).

A second image will not be published if it is within one discipline (for example, a hunter junior
exhibitor and a hunter open award; dressage awards at different levels, etc.).

Instead, I have indicated which award should feature the photo.

If I have won a Horse of the Year award and a Silver Stirrup award, I can submit a photo for each.
Photographer's Release

By submitting a photograph for publication, I certify that I have the legal right to reproduce,
display, transmit and publish it as well as assign such right. In addition, I grant the Federation
the right to reproduce, display, transmit and publish the submitted photograph.
Getting My Photo Returned

If I wish my photo to be returned, I have included an appropriately sized self-addressed,
stamped envelope (SASE). Otherwise, I understand that it will not be returned to me.
Deadline
-
I am submitting all materials to arrive no later than Friday, January 23, 2009.
Note: Any photos received after the deadline cannot be published due to publication deadlines.
