ANRC National Intercollegiate Equitation Championship Showcases Talented Riders

Some content provided by the American National Riding Commission
Lexington, KY— The 32nd Annual American National Riding Commission (ANRC) National Intercollegiate Equitation Championship, which is a USEF local member competition, is being held April 18-19 at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC. Approximately 12 college teams will showcase their most talented riders.
Two or three riders from each school will compete as a team. Riders will be judged and scored in three phases: a Dressage Sportif (a program ride with USEF Hunter Equitation tests), a Hunter Seat Equitation Medal Course at 3' and a Hunter Trials Equitation Course in a field. Both individuals and teams will receive honors and awards from ANRC and the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA).
This year's judges are Dacia Johnson from Monticello, FL and Paddy Downing-Nyegard from Thonotosassa, FL. The written test judge will be Marion Lee from Leesburg, VI.
The ANRC is an affiliate of the United States Equestrian Federation and the USHJA. For information contact Peggy McElveen at (910) 276-7771 or mcelveen@sapc.edu.
The overall goal of the ANRC is to promote a contemporary, systematic approach to riding, training, and teaching that is appropriate for horses as well as riders at various stages of learning. Emphasis is placed on developing a cooperative effort between horse and rider, and ultimately achieving a quality level of performance. These objectives are based on Captain Littauer's Forward Riding System, and are specifically aimed towards riders, trainers, or instructors who want to improve equitation skills, teaching skills, gain a better understanding of riding theory, and want to improve the performance of a field hunter, show hunter, jumper, or pleasure horse.
