Fiesta of the Spanish Horse Cancer Research Benefit and Horse Show to Run April 30-May 3 in California
Release:
March 05 2009

By Joanne Asman
The popular Fiesta of the Spanish Horse, an annual benefit and horse show to support cancer research, will be held April 30 through May 3, 2009 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.
This year marks the 11th annual Fiesta of the Spanish Horse, a revered Southern California equestrian tradition that raises funds for cancer research organizations. It also plays an important role in integrating communities by honoring horses and people steeped in rich tradition.
Fiesta of the Spanish Horse is held each spring at the LA Equestrian Center in Burbank. The four-day event features multi-breed horse show competitions and an Extravaganza presented Saturday evening. Performances demonstrate the agility of the Paso Fino, Andalusian, Lusitano, Peruvian Paso, Azteca, Hispano-Arabe, and other high-stepping Spanish-bred horses. The Extravaganza—the main event—features an evening of non-stop equine entertainment and an educational multi-cultural experience, celebrating the heritage and historical impact of the Spanish horse.
University of Southern California’s marching band and famous Andalusian mascot Traveler® will be among the performers Saturday evening. Entertainment also will include Latin, Mariachi, Flamenco, and Folklorico dancing and music. In addition to the wide variety of equine exhibitions and performances, the evening will include vendors, authentic Spanish food, a silent auction filled with one-of-a-kind items, and a raffle for an autographed Miley Cyrus golf cart from her new video.
Spanish horses and related breeds from across the country also will be competing in a multi-breed horse show April 30- May 3 that is free to the public.
Festivities for the Saturday, May 2, Fiesta of the Spanish Horse Extravaganza begin at 3:00 p.m. at the LA Equestrian Center grounds. The evening show and equestrian exhibitions begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Equidome. Ticket prices range from $15-$50. Contact (818) 842-7444 or
