Spooner Wins in Monaco; Hobbs Bests in Slovenia and U.S. Vaulters Win in Aachen and Krumke

Richard Spooner and Cristallo won the CSI5* Grand Prix du Prix de Monaco. This was the fourth leg of the Global Champions Tour 2008. Spooner and the 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding sped around the course and picked up the win with a time of 38.99 seconds, only 0.02 seconds ahead of second place.
Jeanne Hobbs won the Fourth Class at the FEI CSIO4* at Lipica, Slovenia. It was a 1.45 meter class with 58 starters. Hobbs was riding Night and Day 8, a 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding.
In the Team Vaulting competition at the World Equestrian Festival at CHIO Aachen (June 27- July 6, 2008), the U.S. team called “FACE- The Dark Side of the Moon” came in first, winning the Prize of Sparkasse. The “FACE- The Dark Side of the Moon” team consists of Megan Benjamin, 20, of Saratoga, CA; Emily Hogye, 12, Ben Lomond, CA; Mari Inouye, 24, of Redwood City, CA; Devon Maitozo, 32, of Simi Valley, CA; Elizabeth Osborn, 18, of Menlo Park, CA; Marisa Rodriguez, 12, of Alburquerque, NM; Rosalind Ross, 18, of Woodside, CA and Annalise VanVrankle, 16, of May’s Landing, NJ. In the V4- Prize of Sparkasse team Freestyle Test, the U.S. team by the name of Sun took first with the help of horse Leonardo and longer Lasse Kristensen. In the Second Round Freestyle Female Individuals, American Mary McCormick won the division and also took home second overall.
At Krumke, Germany (June 19-22, 2008), the Vaulting Team “FACE- Dark Side of the Moon” also won the Compulsory Senior Team on Friday. They significantly outscored the other 12 teams. In the Best Compulsory Senior on Friday the “Dark Side of the Moon” took the top placings. First went to Mari Inouye, second to Elisabeth Osborn, third to Devon Maitozo, fifth to Megan Benjamin, sixth to Rosalind Ross and eighth to Annalise VanVranken. The “Dark Side of the Moon” also won the Senior Team Division with a final score of 8,007. And Overall Mary McCormick brought home second place.
The “Dark Side of the Moon” team uses the skill of horse, Wasonero and the Longer, Anke Paure.
