Unprecedented Ninth American Grand Prix Association Rider of the Year Title for Margie Engle; Madison Named Horse of the Year; Ellen Whitaker Takes Rookie Title

Margie Engle of Wellington, FL, stormed to a remarkable and record-setting ninth American Grand Prix Association (AGA) Rider of the Year title, edging Kent Farrington by 23 points for the 2005 season win. Third place finisher Laura Kraut finished 25 points off the pace.

Just completing 27 years of continuing show jumping excellence, the AGA Grand Prix Series of Show Jumping is the world’s richest and longest running series of events. The AGA offers over $3 million dollars in prize money on a tour that encompasses 30 events and 20 different equestrian market locations across the United States.

Olympian Kevin Babington to Offer Jumper Clinic

Irish competitor Kevin Babington will be offering a jumper clinic on Saturday, December 10, 2005, at the High Point Equestrian Center in Montague, NJ. Babington has represented Ireland’s international team since 1996 and has won numerous grand prix in the United States, as well. Babington has proven to be an effective communicator in his clinics. He is as skillful at improving the green horse and rider as he is with the advanced horse and rider.

HITS Announces the 2006 Indio Desert Circuit

HITS is pleased to announce the 2006 Indio Desert Circuit in Indio, CA. Now in its 15th consecutive year, the Indio Desert Circuit will once again offer an exciting six weeks of hunter/jumper competitions. In addition to the excellence in show management that equestrians have come to expect from HITS, 2006 brings some changes sure to please competitors. Most importantly, in 2006, HITS is switching over to EuroFelt footing in all the rings in Indio, and making some positive changes to the layout of the site. With exciting competitions to watch, beautiful show grounds to enjoy and fun-filled special events to attend, spectators are also sure to enjoy all that this year's circuit has to offer.

AAEP Foundation Donates $50,000 to Help Horses Affected by Hurricane Katrina

The AAEP Foundation, Inc., has donated $50,000 to aid Gulf Coast horses affected by Hurricane Katrina. Donations of $25,000 each have been made to the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA) and the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA). The AAEP Foundation created its Equine Disaster Relief Fund in early September to aid horses affected by Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters.

Classic Season Wraps Up for the Atlanta Fall Classic Series

Aaron Vale of Aiken, SC, riding for Angelstone Farms claimed another victory on board the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Arriscraft Soleil with double clear rounds on November 20 over a field of 36 competitors in the $40,000 National Hunter Jumper League (NHJL) Grand Prix sponsored by Bayer/Legend. A first-round time of 88.158 seconds assured Vale a return spot in the jump-off. Their second clear round time of 43.024 seconds put them in the winner's circle. Vale had a total of six mounts for the event, with two making it into the final round.

Kentucky Horse Park Announces Equine Education Programs for 2006

The Education Department at the Kentucky Horse Park wants to make better caretakers out of horse owners, and consequently better horses. To that end, it will offer a variety of equine classes and programs for both adults and youngsters in 2006. Equine professionals and novices will benefit from courses on a wide variety of topics, designed to make participants better horsemen and horsewomen.

George Morris Auctions Trophies and Household Effects from Hunterdon

On January 11-12, 2006, Dawson and Nye Auctioneers and Appraisers will be auctioning off trophies, paintings, silver, pictures, rugs and other household effects from the house of equestrian legend and current U.S. Show Jumping Chef d’Equipe George Morris.   1. Once on the USEF homepage, please select Authorized Users Area in the upper right corner. If you have never used this feature before, please click SIGN UP and follow the instructions to create your account. Once you have signed up, please LOG IN. Click on CONTINUE.
  2. Select HORSE REPORTS on the Authorized Users menu.

The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc.
