Brianne Goutal Tops Another Equitation Final in 2005 ASPCA Maclay National Championship

It was another big win for the talented young rider, Brianne Goutal. The 17-year-old New York City resident rose to the top of a competitive field to win the ASPCA Maclay National Championship at the Syracuse International SportHorse Tournament. Kacey McCann of Palmyra, PA, stayed consistent throughout the day and finished in second place, while Jessica Speiser of Wellington, FL, made a big move to third place.

Kroon Wins North American Endurance Championship after Return from Iraq

Veteran endurance rider Karen Kroon didn’t consider herself primed to win the Individual Gold medal at the 2005 FEI North American Endurance Championship (NAEC), but she did it anyway, thanks to her horse and her crew. Ten months ago, Kroon, of Cheyenne, WY, was a long way from home, and the thought of competing at the NAEC was equally distant in her mind. While other riders were preparing for the NAEC, Kroon, a public health officer for the Air Force, was in Iraq, where she had been on active duty since January, while her horse Rokket stood idle in Maree McAteer’s pasture in Colorado.

Inaugural Ocala Horse Trials a Success for the New Florida Horse Park

"It was really exciting to see the first horse make the first jump and see that horse finish the cross-country course. I'm speechless,” said Florida Agriculture and Horse Park Authority Chairman Tom Warriner just seconds after the first rider completed the cross-country course at the Florida Horse Park’s inaugural event, the Ocala Horse Trials, presented by Seminole Feed, November 5-6.

To know Warriner is to know that it takes a lot to leave this eloquent man speechless. A convincing and charismatic speaker, Warriner is one of the key reasons the Florida Horse Park has received a new lease on life. Combined with support from the Florida Department of Agriculture and the Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce, as well as multiple private sponsors, “It is on its way,” said Warriner.
