Results Determine Final List of Riders for 2005 ASPCA Maclay National Championship at Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament After eight regional qualifiers, the list of riders for the 2005 ASPCA Maclay National Championship is final. The number of riders that qualify for the national championship from each region is based on the total amount of riders that show in each regional qualifier. The larger regions, such as Region 1 or 2, have more riders qualified because they had a much larger number of exhibitors at their qualifier. Richard Spooner Wins the $50,000 HBO World Cup Grand Prix of Del Mar at the Sixth Annual Del Mar International Horse Show Paso Fino Horse Association Scholarship Drive Successful The Paso Fino Horse Association Scholarship Committee has successfully launched its 2005-2006 Fundraising Campaign with its First Trainer Services Auction. The committee teamed up with the Professional Trainers’ Association to raise more than $22,000 at the national show. Aaron Vale Scores Three-in-a-Row Victory in $100,000 U.S. Grand Prix League Invitational Grand Prix Aaron Vale of Aiken, SC, posted a sensational victory in Sunday’s $100,000 U.S. Grand Prix League Invitational Grand Prix at HITS Culpeper. With almost two seconds to spare, Vale and Luigi, owned by Town Creek Investments, swept past the field of 10 in the jump-off to capture the win for the third consecutive year. Last to go, Vale delivered a lightening fast round that brought both the competition and the six-week HITS Culpeper circuit to a thrilling close. When asked how it felt to win the USGPL Grand Prix for the third year in a row, Vale answered simply, “It feels good. It always feels good to win.” And winning is something that seems to come natural to him. The $100,000 USGPL win marked his 23rd grand prix victory this year, smashing his previous record of 18 grand prix wins and setting a new record unmatched by any other U.S. grand prix rider. American Saddlebred Horse Association and American Saddlebred Registry Directors to Meet for Planning Retreat Directors of the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) and the American Saddlebred Registry, along with invited guests, are scheduled to gather, beginning Sunday evening, October 9, in French Lick, IN, to begin a three-day conference and retreat to address strategic planning for the breed and its governing organizations. The formal October meetings of both boards will conclude the session on Wednesday morning. For the full story, click here. $15 Measurement Fee Waived A Presidential Modification to GR505.2, DR134.5, JH129, HP128 and DC Appendix D.5 of the Federation’s Rules has been granted to waive the $15 measurement fee for horses and ponies that have reached the age to receive a standard measurement card. The modification waives payment of the fee until March 31, 2006. Please note, rule change proposals have been submitted from different committees to eliminate the fee entirely.
