United States Reining Team Announced for 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany
The United States Equestrian Federation® (USEF) is pleased to announce the reining team, sponsored by Adequan®, that will represent the United States in the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games held in Aachen, Germany, from August 20 to September 3, 2006, with reining competition being held September 1 and 3.

A Late Night at the 2006 Adequan®/USEF® Open Reining Championship Equals a Championship Title for Matt Mills and Easy Otie Whiz
It was a night of upsets at the Kentucky Horse Park during the 2006 Adequan®/United States Equestrian Federation® Open Reining Championship, which was also the selection trial for the U.S reining team for this summer’s FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. Twenty-seven of the finest reiners our nation has to offer competed in what many believed was one of the most competitive reining competitions ever held.

Newcomers Sweep the Competition at the 2006 USEF Youth Reining Championship
It was a good day to be a first timer at the 2006 United States Equestrian Federation® Youth Reining Championship. The winners in all three divisions were first-timers to the championship. Taking the title in the 13 and under division was McKenzie Lantz, 13, from Fremont, MI, with a score of 213.5. The blue ribbon winner in the 14-18 division was Ian Barnard, 17, of Kendallville, IN, with the high score of 221. The gold medal winner in the 19-21 division was Heather Dudley, 21, of Erie, PA, with a score of 210.5.

U.S. Reining Team First Team to Wear New Ariat Uniforms Designed for 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games
Ariat International, the leading equestrian footwear and apparel manufacturer, has created a collection of high-performance athletic gear for our nation’s top equestrian athletes that debuted last weekend at the 2006 Adequan®/USEF Open Reining Championship. Jamie Saults Returns to USEF to Manage WEG Endurance Team
Jamie Saults, who was USEF Director of Reining for three years, has returned to manage the USEF Endurance High-Performance program through this summer’s 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Aachen, Germany. Saultz takes the program over from Mary Lutz, Director of Endurance and Para-Equestrian, who tragically died in a riding accident on June 9.

Hosted by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Foundation, Inc., over 35 leading researchers, industry leaders and funding agencies gathered to develop a blueprint for future success in the equine research field.

Maui Jim Horse Trials Breaks Records with This Year's Entries
There will be no shortage of top-level horses and riders competing when the Maui Jim Horse Trials get under way on Thursday, July 6, at Lamplight Equestrian Center on North Dunham Road in Wayne, IL. The four-day event has attracted a record number of entries, ranging from such far away spots as Vancouver, California, Texas, Virginia and North Carolina. This popular competition is in its second year of being designated as a United States Eventing Association Gold Cup Event, marking it as one of the 10-best such competitions in the country. The Horse Trials is sponsored by Peoria-based Maui Jim, Inc., makers of popular high-end sunglasses. In honor of the company’s support, the newly constructed cross-country water jump, which will be christened this weekend has been named “Nui Lua Wai,” or “Big Water Hole” in Hawaiian.

Attention Children Jumper Riders
This year’s FEI Children’s International Jumping Final will be held at Spruce Meadows in Canada, October 23-28, 2006. The Final for children between the ages of 12 and 14, as defined by FEI rules, brings together riders from various nations around the world, not only to compete, but also to meet their peers from other cultures. The Oaks Blenheim Fall Tournament, September 13-17, 2006, will be the last qualifying competition in the U.S. for the Children’s Final. USET Foundation’s Excellence in Aachen Benefit presented by Show Circuit Magazine Raises $112,000
The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation announced that Excellence in Aachen, a USET Foundation fundraising celebration presented by Show Circuit Magazine, garnered $112,000 from the generous participants. Excellence in Aachen, held on June 17, included an elegant dinner, a silent auction, an exciting live auction and dancing to a live band. Proceeds from the dinner and silent auction are earmarked to benefit the U.S. equestrian teams at the FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Aachen, Germany (August 20-September 3), and proceeds from the live auction of the Klaus Balkenhol Training Package will be used to benefit the U.S. dressage team at the WEG.

Shahrazad and David Tromp Win $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix to Benefit The EQUUS Foundation
Despite the rain, Shahrazad, owned by the Beyaert Farm, and David Tromp were victorious over a field of 17 in the $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix on Saturday, June 24, 2006, the culminating event of the Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show in Westport, CT. Taking up the second and third spots were Hendrik Gunderson aboard Complete and Darvin Garbo with Holly Orlando on Great Pleasure, owned by Scott Hakim, close behind in fourth.

Anna McWane and Alexa Weeks Lead Strong American Contingent at Monaco
While the third stop on the Global Champions Tour took center stage in Monaco, a number of the American riders on hand dominated in their competitions. Anna McWane and Alexa Weeks led the way for the United States with two wins apiece during the four days of competition at Jumping International de Monaco 2006, staged outdoors on the quay of the famous harbor.

2006 Atlanta Summer Classics Week Two Wrap-Up
The nine-year-old Brazilian-bred mare Shakira Do Jacare beat both the field of 32 horse-and-rider combinations and the stormy weather to take first prize in the Week Two Horses Helping Horses Lucky Sevens Welcome Classic. The Classic, presented by The Plaid Horse Magazine, was a repeat victory for Shakira and owner/rider Sergio Campos, having bested last week’s field of 35.

Jessica Lehnes and Lexington Lady Win Training Level High Score and Lt. Colonel James Marsh Memorial Trophy at Middlesex County Horse Show
New Jersey hometown girl Jessica Lehnes riding Lexington Lady was all smiles on June 20 at the Middlesex County Horse Show in Allentown, NJ, after notching a score of 75.769% in Open Training Level Test 4. The impressive percentage earned Lehnes and Lexington Lady a victory in the class and the high score in training level at the one-day dressage show. Lexington Lady is an eight-year-old, 16.3-hand, dark brown Trakhener mare (by Schonfield), owned by Joanne Penso.

Zada Enterprises, LLC, Dressage By The Bay I & II held in Traverse City, MI, with the Horse Shows By The Bay Hunter/Jumper series have sold out this season. The shows are to be held on July 27-28 and July 29-30, with FEI judges Gary Rockwell and Lois Yukins. Items Sought for American Saddlebred Horse Association Annual Auction; Youths Encouraged to Participate in American Saddlebred Mania
Many items are needed for the 2006 American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) Annual Auction, which will take place Wednesday, August 23, and Thursday, August 24, in the Mary Room of the Executive West Hotel during the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show. The theme of this year’s auction is “ASHA Youth – Past, Present and Future.”

Preliminary USDF Year-End Awards Rankings Now Available Online
Competitors who want to know their current rankings in various United States Dressage Federation's (USDF) year-end awards programs should check out "2006 Preliminary Awards Standings" at www.usdf.org. This member service helps track a rider's and/or a horse's progress toward year-end awards throughout the year. Once a rider/horse meets the eligibility criteria, they appear on the ranking list. Median scores and rankings will be available weekly after staff enters competition results into the database.
