Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented By Farnam, to be Broadcast on NBC Television for Fourth Year

Equestrian Events, Inc., organizer of the 2007 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam, and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) have announced that NBC television will once again bring the thrill and excitement of America’s only four-star three-day event to a national television audience.

This year’s Rolex Kentucky CCI****, an FEI qualifying competition for the 2008 Olympic Games, returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, April 26-29. Anchoring a worldwide television schedule will be a domestic broadcast on NBC airing as a one-hour special on Sunday, May 6, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. EDT.

USEF Announces Team for Nation’s Cup in Wellington, Florida March 7-11

The USEF has announced the show jumping team that will represent the United States against a stellar field of international teams at the CSIO competition in Wellington, FL, March 7-11. This event is one of the premier show jumping competitions in the United States this year and will showcase many of the international athletes and horses that will be competing at the World Cup in Las Vegas April 18-22. The event includes the only Nation’s Cup international team competition to be held in the United States in 2007.

Celebrating the Morgan Horse in Atlanta

The Morgan breed was celebrated and heralded in Atlanta, GA, at the 2007 American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) Convention February 14-17. For the first time in its 26-year history, many Morgan enthusiasts and speakers couldn’t make the event due to poor weather and cancelled flights.

“Our theme this year was ‘The Morgan: A Passion That Lasts a Lifetime,’” said Convention co-chairman Barbara Goda. “I think this also follows closely with the people who surround the Morgan horse. Our Morgan friends came through and substituted for stranded speakers, and some speakers had amazing trips to Atlanta, so they would be able to make their presentations.”

Attention: Juniors and Young Riders—New for 2007 NAJYRC and Adequan/USEF National Junior Jumper Championships

Please remember that to be eligible to compete in the North American Junior and Young Riders' Championships (NAJYRC) and Adequan/USEF National Junior Jumper Championships, horse-and-rider combinations must earn Certificates of Capability between December 1, 2006, and June 15, 2007, for NAJYRC, and August 31, 2007, for National Junior Jumper Championships by completing a course with four faults or less set at
• Level 8 or higher for Young Riders and
• Level 7 or higher for Juniors.

Reining Qualifiers Underway for the USEF 2007 North American Young Riders’ Championships

Sold Out PhelpsSports.com Palm Beach Dressage Derby Crowns 2007 Champions

The 24th Annual PhelpsSports.com Palm Beach Dressage Derby once again drew some of the sport’s best riders and thousands of spectators over four days. Each of the rings was sold out, from the national classes to the international CDI events, including nearly 40 Prix St. Georges and more than 20 grand prix rides in the CDI alone. Competitors were treated to a superb international judging panel, including "O" judges Stephen Clarke, Francis Verbeek von Rooy, Wojciech Markowski, Dieter Schüle and Anne Gribbons in the CDI classes. National riders even had the unique opportunity to ride before Uwe Mechlem, a "retired""O" judge.

National Reining Horse Association Withdraws Proposed Strategic Plan

The Executive Board of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) has voted to withdraw the proposed Strategic Plan. This plan called for the creation of a U.S. affiliate with a new governance structure and a realignment of the governance for the NRHA as a worldwide association. The Executive Board has determined that to serve the membership needs better, a new plan will be constructed in the near future.

Little Jumping, Little Crawfish Mixed with Music Make a Great Recipe for Fun at the Gulf Coast Winter Classics

Exhibitors at the Gulf Coast Winter Classics got a taste of true Southern hospitality on Friday evening, March 2, courtesy of the good folks from Harrison County, MS. Over 1,200 pounds of crawfish (boiled right on the spot), 600 pounds of shrimp, 300 pounds of spiced chicken, another 300 pounds of fried catfish and barbeque ribs, along with 100 pounds of spaghetti, and more extras than a small army could consume. All topped off with live music that kept the toes tapping. The community welcomed riders back with a bounty of delicious local cuisine, festive music and down-home warmth.
