USET Foundation Awards $2 Million to USEF for High-Performance Programs

The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation awarded a $2 million grant to the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) in November 2006 in support of the organization’s eight High Performance programs. The High Performance disciplines are dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, para-equestrian, show jumping, and vaulting. USET Foundation funding provided support, in whole or in part, for High Performance athletes to participate in both national and international events in 2006. The USET Foundation was able to provide the $2 million grant to USEF through its fundraising efforts and the generous donations of contributors nationwide.

Florida Department of Agriculture Posting Daily Status of EHV-1 Virus on Their Web Site

The Florida Department of Agriculture/Division of Animal Industry is posting daily status updates on the EHV-1 outbreak on their web site. The web address is:

It is possible that the number of quarantined premises or horses affected may not change from the previous day's report, in which case the update information would remain the same. A link to the web site is also available by clicking on the "Florida EHV-1 Press Releases and Updates" area on the USEF web site home page, www.usef.org.


America's Horse Championships Presented by Ford Trucks Airs This Sunday on NBC

American Quarter Horses, the world's most versatile breed, takes center stage Sunday, January 7, on NBC at 1:30 EST/ 10:30 PST to strut their stuff in the America’s Horse Championships Presented by Ford Trucks. The program features two uniquely American competitions, cutting and reining, coming from The FedEx Open Competition at The American Quarter Horse Association World Championships show in Oklahoma City, OK. For those viewers new to these two sports, be ready to be intrigued.

ASHA Convention, Youth Conference and Saddlebred Ball Set for February 15-17

The American Saddlebred Horse Association's (AHSA) convention, including its large Youth Conference, the formal annual meeting and election of directors, and the Saddlebred Ball at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, February 15-17, 2007.

2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Adds Director of External Relations

The World Games 2010 Foundation announced that it has added Terry Johnson as its Director of External Relations. Johnson assumes the post after serving for two years as executive director of the Kentucky Sports Authority in Frankfort, KY. Johnson will be responsible for managing all community, organizational and public relations efforts of the Games.

“We are very excited to add Terry to our staff,” stated Jack Kelly, CEO of the World Games Foundation. “There are hundreds of groups and communities that need to be integrated into the Games to maximize its impact on the Commonwealth. Attention Farnam®/Platform™ USEF Horse of the Year Champions: Photo Deadline is January 19, 2007

EQUESTRIAN magazine will publish its annual photo gallery and roster of all Farnam®/Platform™ USEF Horse of the Year (HOTY) champions in the March 2007 issue, in addition to the National Silver Stirrup award winners. Owners of champions are invited to submit photos for publication in the photo gallery.
